Newmarket Says NO To Six-Storey Property Development | Building and Pest Inspections Brisbane

June 22, 2015 By

Aveo is planning to bulldoze 75 ground level low- set retirement villas in Free St, Newmarket & replace them with 300 Apartments in Buildings up to six storeys on top of two levels of carparking.

Aveo needs rezoning of this designated low density, Character waterway catchment that adjoins Ashgrove, Red Hill & Kelvin Grove.

Residents of Newmarket, Ashgrove , Kelvin Grove & adjoining suburbs are very much against this development in Newmarket as it will set the precedence for highrise developments in Newmarket, Ashgrove & neighbouring suburbs. Residents & ratepayers of Newmarket do not want to be steamrolled by the Development companies & Council.

Newmarket residents are also concerned about the massive increase of traffic directly past the Primary School in Newmarket & also the Newmarket Daycare & THE Aged care centre in Free St. This new development in Newmarket would take 8 years of construction & bring hundreds of heavy vehicles into our quiet Newmarket pocket.it would also clog quiet residential street in Newmarket & cause huge traffic problems with only one set of traffic light in & out.

It would also cause environmental degradation of our local creeks in Newmarket & wildlife habitat including severe erosion of steep creek banks & the descretation of our well loved green space in Newmarket.

Elderly residents who currently own villas in the proposed development in Newmarket would be forced to either live in a construction zone or be forced to move out of their villas.

This low density pocket of Newmarket is a beautiful quiet & private area to live. The Newmarket residents are all very passionate about their Suburb & definitely say No to Aveo.
