Newstead Facelift Brings Big Shift

Metro Property’s presence in inner city Brisbane is set to get a whole lot bigger with the company spending $40 million on a development site in Newstead. Metro plans to build 800 Units across four towers on the site on Ann St adjacent to the Waterloo Hotel in Newstead.

This is one of the few remaining development sites of any scale in the Newstead precinct & it is sure to be an iconic project.

The overnight success of Newstead has been 15 years in the making. The modern precinct of Newstead is often referred to as the “Isle of Newstead” & it is often likened to Manhattan for its skyline of towers & surrounding convenience to Brisbane CBD.

Newstead is close to New Farm Park for family get togethers & there is Riverwalk for those who like to exercise along the Brisbane river. It is close to Fortitude Valley for those keen on the night life. The restaurants are second to none in the new Gasworks complex so you really don’t have to leave Newstead if you don’t want to.

Young people are buying Units in Newstead & finding it very convenient while working in the City. Other Newstead projects include Devine 157- Unit Mode, Mirvac 279 – Apartment Unison & Metro are about to launch the fourth & fifth stages of Newstead Central.

The next goal is to make Newstead Brisbane’s first true late night precinct where you can get a meal at 9.30pm & have a haircut at 10pm- very European. Newstead is the only suburb that this would work as it does have the high income earners.
